Wood, Paint, Foam, Masonite, Crepe Paper
5’2” x 21’ x 3’
The form of this sculpture is based on funerary wreaths, floral trophies, and memorial wreaths. The text is large, confrontational, cynical, but the color and making of the object is intended to be at odds with its message. There are over two thousand hand-made crepe paper roses that cover the piece. Are we suckers to believe? Or is our ability to look past cynicism despite all other evidence the quality that defines us in the end?
