Waiting

2007

Wood, Paint, Fluorescent Light, Aluminum Foil, Metal Mesh, Aluminum Ball Chain

8’3” x 7’10” x 2’2”

The word “waiting,” describes an action that is passive and inert. This piece was created to be monolithic, cool, impartial and evoke sadness.  It is something we do individually and as a people. The light looms over the viewer with a chilly indifference, the curtain of ball chain creates the illusion of the word extruding out from the face of the sign.
